Notes
The first week of class will be making sure you have the necessary software installed on your computer and that you have gained access to to course wiki so that you can add, change, and update information as needed. Also, next week I would like to schedule a Skype call with each of you for a short chat, just so I understand more of what you are hoping to get out of this course. On the Skype page I have created a table with times that I am available. Please sign up for a time that works well for you. We can have up to 10 people chatting at a time, so feel free to join a time with someone else.

Things to accomplish this week:

1. Register for and gain access (I will need to approve and grant you rights to this site before you will see the "Add page" icon) to the networked classrooms wiki (this site).
  • Create a page titled your name and introduce yourself to the rest of the class. (Example: Location, years teaching, reason for taking the course, hobbies, picture if you want, etc.)
  • You do this by clicking on Profile pages on the left and then clicking on "Add page" on the left at the bottom of the list of pages. Add a picture if you would like, some information about you, and once you have set up your blog, create a link to your blog for this course. This is a great way to explore the wiki site and learn how to use it (don't worry you can't screw up the site :) ).
  • I have written a lot here and I'm sure there are plenty of spelling mistakes and grammar errors throughout. Please feel free to fix any you find by clicking on the easy edit button and editing the text.

2. Sign up for a Skype call with me by clicking on the Skype Sign up page and entering your name at one of the times available. If you do not have Skype installed then click on Skype above and you will be taken to the Skype page to download and install this free program that allows us to talk from Bangkok to where ever you are for free!

3. Create a Google Account if you do not already have one. It's free and simple to do. Just go to Google.com and click on signin in the upper right hand corner. It will walk you through the process to sign up for a Google account. If you already have a google/gmail account you are good to go!

  • Create a blog using blogger.com (If you already have a blog and you want to use it for this class, that's great! No need to set up a new blog. If you don't have a blog, please set one up now.)

Software to download and install:

Skype
Audacity (PC users only)
Garage Band (Mac users: Should come pre-installed on all newer Macs. If not, please download from Apple's website)
